Cardiff Civic Society’s Vision for Cardiff
Our Vision for Cardiff is a city where:
the planning system works for citizens, rather than for developers
the “15 minute city” concept is adopted and used to frame the city’s growth
affordable homes and decent jobs are available for all
Anyone interested in democracy and accountability of local government should worry about the Cardiff region’s new corporate joint committee
Politicians and managers are already reluctant to take responsibility for fixing issues and too ready to see them as somebody else’s problem. There is little transparency, leaving those who need solutions struggling to find out who might provide them.
Immense task ahead to root out entrenched inequalities
When it comes to poverty in the capital city, things are moving in the wrong direction – over 25% of citizens in our city are living in poverty once housing costs are taken into account and over a third of children in Cardiff are growing up in poverty.
